Id imagine in somewhat deep waters the DD with the wire mod are going to face some major problems - water and electricty do not get along.

I didn't cut or splice any wires so I still had the stock weatherpacks which have few to no issues due to normal weather conditions.

I have driven the car in torrential downpours again with no issues.

There is still a fender liner between the wries and the elements.

Can you tell me why you would do either of these mods, or how much power you were suppose to get from them?

You lose a little weight but the main reason is that it cleans up the engine bay ALOT!

You can use a 1/4" brake line about 6" long and cut off the flares and fittings for the bypass.

I de-screened my MAF, and ported it.. It was a noticable difference in top end performance. I used to get hesitation in 3rd at ~5000rpm, after the mod it completely went away. No regrets here. Wanted to port my TB this weekend but i have to move all the junk out of the garage and paint the floor

there are two explanations here:

1.) it's all in your head. this is very likely.

2.) removing the screen ALONE has been known to lean people out by A FULL POINT! imagine what porting it can do?! if there really was hesitation, your stock tune may have had you running pretty rich, and the descreen/port could have leaned you out significantly.

descreening/porting your MAF is a bad idea. there is no reason to do it, unless you love running unnecessary risks for little to no power gain. we won't even get into the risks of running lean...why'd my engine go BOOM?

cut-out is damn cheap if you can weld. Less than $50 and typically good for 10 HP.

So....if you descreen the MAF got get a tune. Ive had no problems, other than before my tune fixed it. Its got about 40-50k miles without a screen.
