What to expect with SLP header install?
I have decided to go with the SLP headers and wanted to get an idea on how hard the install could be. I have heard that the FLP's are pretty straight forward, but I haven't heard much on the SLP's. Any Advice? Thanks in advance.
I had the joyful experience of installing a set of these just a couple of weeks back. They recommend having an assistant pry the rear of the transmission toward the opposite side while manuvering each header into place. Problem is, if you're doing the install on jack stands you may have a problem safely getting the car high enough to get the proper angle to do it this way. I ended up loosening the 2 front cradle bolts, and removing the 4 rear ones, and lowering the rear of the cradle gently with the floor jack... they went right in once I did this. Getting the y-pipe to align properly without it banging on the floor is another story.
My experience couldn't have been much easier. Tranny was out and it was on a lift so they just slid right in. Couldn't have been easier. If your planning on doing a converter you migfht knowck em both out at the same time.
I am actually on the border, stationed at Ft. Campbell. I am not sure where Cookeville is. Thanks for all the advice fellas.

Well, I needed to remove just a little bit of the tab on the passenger's side of the block. Using a hacksaw on an aluminium block made short work of it all. I did have someone to pry the tranny over.
