Default Low RPM misfire

Hey all.. i tried using the search function but it kept just sending me to google???

I have a misfire below ~1500 rpm, everywhere else its fine, even at HIGH RPM. at first i thought it was an off idle stumble, but it does it in every gear it i have it at that low of an rpm. Cruising at 60ish mph in 6th gear is apprx 1400 rpm (3.42 gears) and it will have the SES light flashing all the time, if i give it any extra throttle it feels like several cylinders are misfiring.

any ideas?

i'm thinking new coils/wires... as they are both stock.

Have you modded anything recently? done anything with your ignition (coil packs, plugs, wires) or your fuel?

Def. start checking your spark plugs and wires first.

textbook ignition problem. the ignition system is at hardest work at low rpm and high load(accelerating).

do plugs and wires. then try and isolate a coil.

check the ohms of the wires, should be around 300 to 500 ohm range.

the wires should click twice on the coils and just once on the plugs, but I am sure you know that already.

check the plug tips make sure they are tight, sometimes the tips that screw on get lose and might cause something like that.

also disconnect your coil pack connectors and reconnect them to make sure everything is seated and tight.

I just had the same problem yesterday and i have 2 month old tr55's. I pulled them and they appear to be fouled, so i am saving them to get a better look at them. I put in new plugs and the problem is gone. I have new msd coils and msd wires.

Been there. Change the plugs & wires. I prefer NGK TR 55 & MSD. My problem ended up being bad coils. It looks like the enectrical connections got fouled up from my spraying the engine off @ the car wash.

Best thing is to find a friend with similar car, and switch one side of the coil packs at a time, clearing all codes after & seing if that works.

Could also be a bad 02 sensor. When it flashes on & off, that indicates a misfire. So def one of the above listed items. Good luck.

02 sensors are brand new, tuner said they are fine (they have less than 200 miles on them)

this WHOLE setup has less 500 miles on it (heads/cam/headers/lsx9090/plugs)

puttin msd wires on it tonight, see what happens.

it seems to have gone away... also had my tuner reflash it.

i think the back pass side (#7 i think) wire was partially broken (wire was pulled out some)

so a bad 02 sensor can cause the flashing ses? because i just had mine changed and about that time was when the problem started.

So you replaced the broken wire and it went away or the tune fixed it?
