Default SLP vs Whisper, any real difference?

I was happy with my old SLP lid, liked the construction and type of plastic. Anyone actually see a difference between Whisper or SLP? I have the old GMHTP mag where they compared the lids and the SLP was rated very well. I'm doubting there's any discernable power gain difference.

A Lid is a Lid. Not any real differences seen when GMHTP did a lid comparison maybe 1/4 to a 1/2 hp difference at the most. I bought a Whisper lid several years ago and it fits well.Thats what you need to take into consideration when lid buying. The fit.

That's what I need to hear. Anyone have fitment issues with SLP? Mine seemed pretty good from what I remember. TR claims 17/19 to the rear with a Whisper, descreen, and cutting EGR probe off. Of course, the K&N couldn't have added any, so I won't mention that.

Not according to that article. They were all very close, but fitment did differ as well as ets.

Don't get caught up in all of the bench-racing hype surrounding lids. Any differences are insignificant.

I think the wait for the new SLP lid will be well worth it seeming how the lid they already had was damn good, their new one should be the best lid out there on the market.

i was thinking the slp really wasn't changed in terms of dimensions. i think just the molding process is more precise now so there won't be any variation from one slp lid to another. i think anyways...

Just bought the Whisper. I wouldn't say fitment is great on any of them. You have to finagle the **** out of it to get it in, then, depending on airfilter foam thickness, it may not clip shut. Anyone care to expose the big secret trick? I even cut a hole underneath the area under the maf to make sure nothing hit it. My fernco is coming off and stock bellows are going back on as it really needs to bend there.

I had to cut out the area under the maf from the back edge of the airfilter area to the very back. Now it finally fit in and clamped tighter than Wells Fargo bank.

You shouldn't need to cut anything, they are a tight fit but all you need to do is boil a pot of water and stick the end of the lid in it for 30 seconds. The heat will cause the plastic to expand/loosen enough to slide it over the MAF easily.

The main problem that I have on my SLP lid, and I've seen many others have this problem, is that they don't seal against the filter on the back. I had to use silicone to seal the gap. My friend was wondering how he was getting leafs against his MAF screen and his SLP lid had a 3/8" gap in the back.

Other than having a gap big enough to suck in large particles of dirt and debri which could destroy your engine I like the SLP lid.

I had the same problem. I had a whisper with fitment issues and my fiance actually got me the SLP. The material feels different, the clearance is great, but I had to grind down where the MAF goes, I couldnt get it in at all, But like redlinez said its tighter than a wells fargo bank now. Just from what Ive seen WS6's seem like they like the SLP better for clearance issues, other than that a lid=lid=lid.

i was lucky enough to get ahold of the stealthmotorsports lid, which advertises bringing in 370% more air than the SLP lid. And yes, I felt a big difference by upgrading. I'd recommend it if you can find it.

It comes with a different radiator support/airbox and fits great.
