no-gap spark plugs

no-gap spark plugs
I am curious to know if anyone is using those spark plugs that don't need to be gapped, you know, those that have two or four tips. Are these any good for an LS1? I did a search but nothing came up on the subject. Could these maybe cause more harm than good?

Are you talking about the bosch platinum +4 spark plugs? I sell them where i work, and i dont recommend them. they are not any better then the ngks. the only difference is that the spark has 4 points to choose from instead of one. the spark will take the shortest distance, and with four to choose from, the plug will just last longer. i have heard of customers complaining that they put them into their cars and their cars ran worse then b4 they put them in. i gave them what the oe recommended and they said that their car ran great. If i was you, run the ngk, maybe even the iridiums, that what i have and they run great.

agreed plugs suck but most double platinums are no gap plugs they should be preset like the iridium. i love ac's but that cause i try to eliminate any foriegn parts on my cars. lol even though 99.9 percent of it was made in mexico canada japan china ect ect

Bosch is marketing those plugs on appearance, not function. More ground area is not better, it's actually worse. More mass and surface area around the early flame will tend to cool it, and rob energy. This slows the initial burn. The best plug you can get is a fine wire iridium, like NGK or Denso, with a single fine wire ground. These are usually marketted as racing plugs, and can be quite expensive.

Umm??? Not sure how much flying you do but two plugs on two differnt mags pretty much has this covered, not more electrodes.
Anyway...ALWAYS chech the gap on your plugs, why wouldn't you take the extra 5-10 minutes to ensure you don't have a problem?

I tried the Bosch 4's when I first got my LS1. Car started running like crap. I tok it to my tuner and he told me to rip the bosch's out and get some NGK's. Problem was solved and I've been using NGK's ever since
