Default GMMG or something else? Help me decide!

Ok well I got my car a little over a year ago with no intention of ever modding it (yeah right lol). Then a few weeks later I found this message board. A few weeks after that I got my first mod, a slp lid. Since then I've been hooked on this stuff and done as much bolt on stuff as possible that I figured I safely could by myself because I've never worked on a car before in my life (check my cardomain for details). Everything was good for a few months until I got to the point I'm at now. It seems the next logical performance mod for me would be some LT's. I'm probably gonna get the stainless xs headers and ory. However, I figure as long as I'm gonna re-do the front part of the exhaust system, I might as well do the rest over too. I've been on ls1sounds and fell in love with the gmmg system. Only problem is when I googled for it, the only place I could find that sells it was their site....for $700! Since I'm in college that's a bit outta my price range now, especially after I'll be dropping $500+ for the headers/ory. Does anyone know of another place that sells the gmmg system for less OR can anyone recommend a different/cheaper system that would sound just as good. I'm not interested in doing true duals because that really seems like it'd be expensive and a big headache for me to try to do myself. If I can get the headers/ory done myself without destroying the car or having it fall on me I'll be happy. Right now I have the SLP dual-dual which is nice but still not as throaty as I'd like. Perhaps I should just put in the xs headers first and maybe that would help awaken the true sound of the d/d? In which case I wouldn't need a new catback system....I dunno. Please post up some thoughts/opinions to help me out guys, keeping in mind price IS a big factor. Thanks!

gmmg has their system on sale now in the group purchase forum now. they are going for $650 shipped with their standard tips. if you need a good catback for the price then i would look into a magnaflow.

yeah i saw that and even pmed the guy about getting a system w/o tips b/c i just picked up some corsa clones. he told me he'd take $20 off the price (making it $630). i'm gonna strongly consider this, but i'm also gonna look into the magnaflow b/c it's CONSIDERABLY less. anyone out there have some vids of a before/after magnaflow system they could post up here? (besides ls1sounds, thanks!)

magnaflow is quiet at idle. i am not sure what you are looking for. i have longtubes and high flow cats and it is still quiet. once you get on it you can hear it though.

before you spend the money hook up the LT's and ORY with the Dual dual. I think it sounds pretty good, and you could save $700 towards your next mods!

I just got my GMMG exhaust put on today, I have lts and high flow cats, at idle it's not to loud but loud enough to hear it pretty good, cruising speed
(lower rpm band) about the same, wot it will wake the dead.
GMMG exhaust=$650
Install=$40

And it never gets old. Definitely pick up the GMMG. I can honestly say I fell "into the hype" of the GMMG, and bought it without ever hearing it person and only watching every video clip I could find. After the install, I was smiling ear to ear. Worth every penny I paid, and when I put my longtubes on, it got even better.

Save for the GMMG catback and I would go with a catted y rather then the ory with GMMG.

yeah that's what i'm leaning towards. my overall goal is to have it a little more throaty at idle and wot but still retain some calmness at cruising speeds of like under 2500 rpm. about twice a month i do a 2 hour drive each way from my school to home and nothing would be more annoying than 2 hours of "WAAAAAAH" from my exhaust on the highway.

If I could do it all over again, I would have bought the headers without y and went with TSP duals. I heard them on Friday night and really wish I had some now.

Go TSP duals man, it blows GMMG away.

I have a cam, LT's, ORY, and then the GMMG. I love this combination. Sounds like an old big block muscle car. After going through like five exhausts on this car I finally found the one I like the best.

If you already have the SLP exhaust option I would put some longtubes and an ory on it. I really wish I had not sold my Dual Dual system when I first got my Firehawk. When you put headers on it it will make it sound a lot louder. JMO

My SS came with the dual/dual and the longer I have the car, the better it sounds.
