Default Full bolt-ons. Time for a tune?

Well I've pretty much got full bolt ons now. All except for a EWP. I've done long tubes, true duals, SLP CAI, SLP Lid, FAST 90/90 intake/throttle body, 25% underdrive pulley, ect... The car has never been tuned. I am thinking about having it done. How much should I look to gain from having it tuned at this point? I'm trying to decide whether or not to wait until i do heads and cam, or to do it now. What do you guys think? Thanks.

By the way, it'll probably be a year and a half before I get around to heads, cam, and converter (I'm still in school and don't have the money)

it wouldnt be a bad idea, your car has a stock tune on it....so your cars not getting the most out of your mods.....im not sure why you got a 90/90 setup before a converter ? but its your car

yep. you are probably making decent power now but id say you may gain another 10 to 15hp more with a tune. You dont want to run too rich or to lean.

X2 on not doing the stall before the 90/90??

Not only will a tune add some horsepower, but since your bolt ons will move your power curve somewhat, a tune increasing your shift points will reduce your et's even more.

I got the 90/90 before the converter because I got an awesome deal on the 90/90. In addition, I also wanted to wait until I could put a built transmission in the car before I put a TC in there. I'd rather not take any chances in having the tranny go and taking the converter with it. I guess I'm just being a little overly cautious.

If you have a tuned stock car and live in the mountains, then decide to move to the beach with that same car could benefit from a dyno tune (assuming the first tune was done in the mountains). The change in air density and air pressure and constant air temperature is tune-worthy.

My best friend in Highschool went to UTI in texas where he got a class on dyno tuning. He tuned a brand new stock mustang GT and found a spot under the curve worth 40RWHP!!! Tuning is always worth it. You might not see awesome peak numbers, but the numbers under the curve will change a lot...considering its just a few changes to numbers in a table.

Good point. I didn't really think of it in terms of power under the curve. Thanks

I just had most bolt-ons done, and I had the shop that did the install check the tune. They found that the A/F was pretty far off. I don't know how much power was gained in the process, but I think it was worth it.
