Right on guys... I just picked up a LS6 intake from a buddy for $175, thought I couldn't go wrong...Im planning to go with the TR 224/224 112lsa and AFR 205's So if i need more air down the road I'll switch to the FAST 90...

How's that sound?

Never heard of anyone having much luck porting a LS6 intake...
I currently have the LS6/portedTB combo and it is definitely costing me above 6000rpm on my 383. I just hate to pony up the $1300 for the ported FAST 90 combo...

Benjamin, what do you mean costing you above 6 g's? Can you really feel the engine struggling for air??

Yah. You can see the dyno curve start to flatten out and peak early. You don't "feel" it per se, but I know that I could gain an easy 20rwhp with a less restrictive intake set-up. The problem then becomes the rest of the intake tract. Bigger lid opening, bigger coupling, possibly bigger MAF, etc... There doesn't seem to be a easy (or cheap!) solution.

I have the ls6 intake cause thats what came on the car. I've tossed around the idea of getting the fast 90/90 once I decide what heads i'm going with. The ls6 is pretty stout though but eventually i'll go for more power and have to part ways with it.

I'm in the same boat as well. I currently have a stock ls6 intake and stock throttle body and put down 425/400 with heads, TR224 and QTP long tubes. I go back and forth with spending the $100 to have the throttle body ported and polished to get 7-10hp or drop the $1100-1300 for a ported fast 90/90 combo and gain 25-30hp as well as 15-20 ft/lbs of torque.

I'm saving some pennies and maybe this fall I'll spring for the FAST 90/90 combo and be sitting at 450-460hp which should keep me happy for a few more years till I decide to upgrade to a bigger cube motor, which the intake would be a great up front investment for.

have you checked out TPIS???????? they'll take a LS6 manifold and port it to 90mm for $400 i think . . . so a FAST isn't that needed unless your running N20. they also have dyno charts on there. always something to check out! i just picked my LS6 up off ebay for $355 . . . . check out the appearance section in acouple weeks to see it

Save your money an do it right the first time. This way you will not be searching for a few lost ponies here and there. Get a Mamo ported Fast 90.

that's why i said i guess. if you really want something and want Y but only have X and can't afford Y, you'll find a way to make and X into a Y.

Hell no!!! no wrong there. that's a good price. I remember after one of the GM or camaro magazines came out with an article that said about 01&02 LS1 equiped cars had an LS6 manifold on from the factory, ebay blew up and you couldn't get an LS6 manifold for less than $300 lol.

Hmmmm, I wonder what the difference would be with a 90mm TPiS LS6 intake vs. the FAST intake. Now I'm really confused and tempted.

And how you like it...

Thanks

Weiand here; ported to 83mm. Want to go to 90mm. Kinda run out of material near the top of the intake. If we can get it to a machine shop, can probably be done. Runners are also port matched.
