Will drilling a hole in the Throttle body affect performance on a stock cam?
Just Installed my FAST Intake again, went with Pace Setter long tubes, and removed the EGR, when I mash on it on the upper rpms of second gear I'm getting some pppppppp, something like some pinging, am I running to lean? or because I'm using the throttle body off my 98 with the hole drilled for my bigger cam install on the 98, that its leaning out my stock cam on my 2000? Should I turn back the timing by five percent? and maybe increase the fuel? Also can I use a stock 98 MAF on a 2000, I always thought you could? THanx for your input. DoubleK I have not tuned yet to remove the EGR, I do have a check engine light.

the hole in the blade will NOT make it ping. The hole is for idle purpose only. When the blade is wide open the hole doesn't do anything. If anything if you have a bigger hole you may notice it having a little higher idle. Do you have a ported MAF? Sometimes that will make it ping. Mine did. If not you may need to retard the timing a little.

Drilling the TB isnt going to do anything for ya really. Sounds like you need either have an issue with your installation or you need a little tuning to stop the ping, maybe add some more fuel or pull a little timing.

Only reason it was drilled, is it was from my 98SS, I had that car cammed, I haven't gotton around to doing that to this one yet, still trying things out, my 98 TB was cleaner and nicer than this one on my 2000, that's why I'm using it, car is not pinging anymore, gonna get it tuned this Suday the 3 of June. THanx again for your intput.
