Serpentine belt jumped off a bit?

Serpentine belt jumped off a bit?
Just wondering if this ever happened to anyone else.
I started my car last (after a 40 mile ride) and I heard a strange noise under my hood. I looked and my serpentine belt jumped off the idler pulley by one rib. It was still on there, but it got chopped up from being off a little...
I bought a new belt, drove about 70 miles since, and no problem...
Everything look perfectly alligned (all the pulleys). And I never changed the original belt (36k miles on it) because it looked fine, (co cracks.. etc...)
I did swap out my cam last week, which made me suspect maybe the crank pulley was misalligned, but it looks perfect, and it is torqued in to spec, etc...
Do these belts sometimes just "go"? I have been revving my engine higher than it ever has before do to my new cam (and LS1Edit).
Thanks for any info!

Did you spin your engine real high after cam install?I slung the belt after a high rpm missed shift. If that is what happened I wouldnt worry about it.Above 6500rpm it can happen.Probably a one time thing.

The same thing happened to me just recently, and so far so good after putting in a new belt. There are 3 arrows on the tensioner, and I was told you want the pointer to be right around the middle one. Mine wasn't with the original belt, and now it is.

Re: Serpentine belt jumped off a bit?
My RPM limiter is set to 6500 now (hotcam and LS6 springs...)
I have put about 250 miles on my car since the cam install, and I have shifted very "high" a few times... This just bugs me because I hate for this to be a repeat problem.
I read some stuff about the "Larry Pulley" with higher edges on for the tensioner pullet (this is exactly were my belt derailed...)
I wouldn't mind buying that for piece of mind (since I like spinning my engine up real high now!) but I can't seem to find any info about where to buy it....
Thanks again!

From Thunderracing it was about $75 shipped.
$75 seems steep to me, but the inconvience of that damn belt slipping off, plus $25 a pop for a new belt each time (my old on got torn up) makes it worth it for me. Plus TR had it in stock...
Wonder if our whacky bell shaped water pump pulley was such a smart design...
