160* thermo install advice
Thinking about getting a 160 or 172? degree thermo, searched threads for advise but am still confused... I live in Colorado, it gets below 0 sometimes here in the winter, but decently hot in the summer. Should I get an aftermarket thermometer? Are they hard to install? Can anyone recommend one for me?
Thanks

I started a thread here on it: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/724742-cheapest-160-degree-thermostat.html
I went with a 180* thermostat and dex-cool coolant. Just have someone with tuning software re-program your fans and you will be all set. Runs a tad bit cooler than stock, but could actually be more in reality as the factory temp gauge in 1999+ isn't entirely functional. It doesn't go down once it hits 200-210. Read the explanations in that thread as to why 180* is superior. Our engines like to run hot (not too hot and not too cold).
