Magnaflow SS catback installed today
I got the stainless steel Magnaflow catback with the polished muffler. rest of the exhaust is stock. Had it done at a muffler shop, took about 35-40 minutes. Sounds great at idle not too loud, dead quiet at crusing around town at 40-50mph. It screams at WOT, Im glad I didnt get a ORY its just loud enough for me now, Getting old and loud cars are not my thing anymore. I like the mellow deep sound.

If you dont want it too loud and you decide to get LT headers then go with the TSP catted Y set-up. I didnt want mine too loud either thats why I went with the catted Y pipe and I love the sound. Very calm at idle and cruising but awesome for those times that you get on it. No rasp either. Magnaflow is a great sounding exhaust on stock set-up and even better with LT's and catted Y.

Magnaflow is by far the best bang for the buck exhaust system for our cars. Its stainless steel, flow numbers are at the top, nice deep tone, and very reasonably priced. I will never own another catback. Magnaflow all the way

I just put my Magnaflow on yesterday, same as you stock up to the I pipe. Its quite and its got a nice deep tone now. My only question is will it get a little louder as it wears in? I am hoping for a wee bit more aggresive sound from her with LTs and Ory.

To answer the question will it open up more...yes...but it will not be too loud either. I have right now a stock 97 LT1 with no cats and magnaflow. It is decent loud.
I just ordered some Kooks LT and ORY so I will post a video or something when I get them installed.

when i got my 02 z28, all i had at first was an slp lid. then i installed my magnaflow. it really woke the car up alot. yeah it was quiet, but the throttle response and seat of the pants was very noticable. then i did pacesetter longtubes and ory and its alot louder especially at wot!!! not so much rasp like everybody mentions.. but with the pacesetters i can definitely feel the power just pulling up the powerband!!

Magnaflow rasp isnt anything like bullet rasp tho. Not bad at all, kind of nice once in awhile. The jackass down the block from me cut off his original muffler on his TA and welded in a bullet and no tailpipes. Now THAT is raspy to the point of making me want to blow it up.
