Default QTP header install

Well, I was crazy enough to do this myself last night. Not done though. I got the passenger side in quite easily, but there is next to no clearance where the 4 pipes go by the subframe, right about where the starter wires are. I think I tightened it where it isn't touching, but there might be 2mm of clearance. I can say I'm sure it will hit. The other thing I did different is I supported the rear of the car with jackstands and can't get the driver side up in. I'm guessing I need to remove those rear stands and get more height under the front and it will slide right in (just like the sticky says it will). Had I not supported the rear, I would never have been able to wrestle the factory y pipe out of the Magnaflow catback. I know I've read there's some movement available in the passenger side header, but I'm guessing I need a second body up top to tighten while I hold in place underneath.
OBTW- this is worth every penny of paying someone $300-450 to have these installed. This is my 2nd time doing it and last. Unless you have a lift and another car available if needed.

I realized when I supported the rear I dropped the front of the car, so I'll finish tonight. I hope. I can only pray the Y pipe (Pacesetter) fits up well enough. I'll take it to a shop tomorrow if there are any fitment issues. That passenger side concerns me more than anything.

Don't have one. A good friend of mine who's a Ford tech came to help and we both agreed I better I have it towed to my friends at Mayhem Motorsports. I have officially given up on a car mod I started. First time for everything. Sucks having two cars when you're dual income and have two small kids. I'll have it flatbedded and the wifey is dropping me off at work......

I did my own about 2 weeks ago. I do have a lift to work on so that made life easier. i do have a little rubbing going on with the drivers side header. I need to get on the ball and just grind a little bit of the k member to take care of that!

Looks like everyone is having that issue with QTPs. Dont know if I am going to go with them now. Still in the great header debate with myself right now.... UGH. Might just go kooks and forget it. But I really like the collectors on the QTP. DAMN THE DECISIONS.

everyone is going to have trouble installing any type of header... my passenger side slide right in the drivers side had to point almost verticle in the air and then i had to take out the steering linkage move that aside and have someone up top guide me over the studs and bam it was in .. yes i had it on a lift but if u can get the car off the ground far enough anyone can do it ... belive me well worth the hp gains

Heah, when I was intsalling my driver side header (pacesetter ceramic race ) my buddy and me, while it was on a frame lift ,had too krate kid the header in place, the car almost left the lift!. The fenderwell is formable, angle the front of the header towards the sky and bench press the middle. or you can watch someone else do it for $400. Maybe if you have an EGR bracket that would make it harder, good luck. Maybe lift the left side of the car body with a floor jack?

to get my driver's side header in took my cousin and I some forceful manuvering. He had to keep tipping the engine back and forth while I jammed that sucker in there. While it got a bit scratched up, it's in and it's never coming out again.

I'd recommend disconnecting the steering knuckle, jacking up the engine, grinding off the tab and whatever it takes to get that damn driver's side in. Once it is in though, it's well worth whatever cursing and pain you go through.

I'm sure it has something to do with the overall diameter of the header tubes as well. My Jethots went right in on both sides. I still can't really say is I don't have a lift, but I don't mind having the Kmember grinded on, it isn't hurting anything. Heck, if I had the money, I'd have them put a mild steel k member in too. Those are the last header I'll buy.

Well, it's more like lack of ability/experience/height all in one. They loosened up more than I did and jacked the engine while hoisted I believe. Didn't have to cut except on the Pacesetter Y pipe, which always seems to be the case with Y pipes. Looking forward to hearing and feeling the difference. They are frickin sweet. Thanks again to Jeff and Jay at Mayhem Motorsports. They are great guys to deal with and I would recommend them for anything. They had a sweet Hemi crate engine sitting in there while the Cuda was getting repainted.
