Default Any way to tell if you have a 160 thermostat?

Doing some mods next week on the Z06; just wondering how to tell if it's a 160 or stock? Might put the 160 if it hasn't been done. It wants to run hot , around 220 degrees in stop and go traffic. Seems hot to me. Plus, I will be going to Road Atlanta in two weeks and I know it will be hot there.

i would imagine the easiest way is to just find the part number etched on it somewhere... then just do a google search for that part number and see what comes up...

If you have a way of looking at the exact coolant temp, you can generally tell when the thermostat opens because the car will stop warming up right around its opening point, and after a while will continue to increase in temp.

Feel the hose going to thermostat while someone is watching the guage. The hose will be hard when thermo is closed, as soon as it opens it becomes softer.

That's mostly true...you can still take advantage of it on the highway or any other time you have air blowing across the radiator...where you need the fan reprogramming is in town sitting in traffic.

You could just take it out and put it in a pan of water on the stove with a thermometer and see when it opens up.
