Default true dual setup....opinions needed

what's up guys,
i am getting set to throw some duals on my car and was wondering what you guys think of this setup. i was planning on going with ceramic coated hooker longtubes, a catted x pipe, and Moroso spiral flows dumped before the axle.

the only area that i need some advice in is which cats and which x-pipe to go with. i am probably going to go with 2.5 inch pipes the whole way. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and welcomed.

a custom x-pipe and some cheap hi-flow cats of the other site... think it start with an "e" and end in "bay"

If you want 2.5" pipes then your best bet is probably going to be fabbing something up yourself or having an exhaust shop do it. Universal X pipe kit, a couple Spiral Flows, some extra piping, some hangers and a welder is what you'll need. I did mine in my driveway, although mines 3", but it's not that hard if you can weld. BTW that exhaust setup will sound awesome.

yea i'm thinking that 2.5" pipes will be the way to go. my father has a welding/fabrication shop, with a recently added lift, so we should have all of that covered. hopefully it will sound really good, i know it will be a little on the loud side but it's not my daily driver so it shouldn't be an issue. thanks a lot for your input. dan

Um why wouldn't you want to do a 3" setup:

1). Extraordinarily loud
2). Reduced ground clearance

i was always under the impression that 3" true's are too big for stock cube LS1's and you'll loose low and mid range power.

Went 2.5 inch custom ORX with Loudmouths, because honestly, cats are for girls

It's actually not that loud but maybe it's because I am young.

good point. however, most aftermarket y pipe setups are 3" and most aftermarket catbacks are 3". granted, you dont have the backpressure with the duals that you will have with the catback because the pipe goes all the way back with the catback. i like to think of duals kinda like a y pipe/catback setup with a cutout, but u have the x merge which will produce better power and torque than the y pipe merge. so i would think u will get as much, if not better low end torque with duals than a catback setup with the cutout open. now, a catback setup with no cutout, or cutout closed, is going to have a better low end, torquy feel to it, but will not flow like the duals in the mid to top range.

^^^what's up jamie? personally, i wish i would've gone with a y pipe setup or found a 2.5" X setup all the way out. i feel i lost a lot of low end with 3" dumps but i'm getting 4.10s to fix that

hey bro how r ya man? i know u felt a loss in low end, but we did ur headers at the same time, so u went from exhaust manifolds to long tube headers. headers shine in mid range to top end, not down low. a lot of people notice a loss in low end from long tube headers. so ur feeling of loss cannot be attributed completely to the 3" duals, but to the combo. im not saying 2.5" duals wouldnt give better low end, they sure would. i had 2.5" duals custom fabricated for my silver z28 and the ground clearance was awesome...sounded good too. i just went with tsp this time for convenience. i dont have the exhaust hook up that i used to, so i dont know who to go to for custom fabrication around here. anyway, good to hear from u man. keep in touch 757-337-7762

A friend of mine had a pair of TSP True Duals, and I hated the way they sounded. It was just too loud and didn't really have any tone, just loud.
