Default spark plugs and wires question

Can you run the stock wires with headers (pacesetter lt's)? Also, I wondered why it seems everyone runs the NGK TR-55 spark plugs. Are these better than the stock platinum ones? Thanks in advance for any input.

You can run all stock stuff with the headers no problem.

TR-55's are very reasonably priced and work well. I am not sure if there is anything in particular that makes them work better than others for the LS engines....info.."These V-Power plugs from NGK use a 90 degree V-shaped center electrode that directs the spark to the edge of the electrode. This prevents the spark from being absorbed, or quenched, and allows it to develop faster. That hotter spark means better combustion, which improves performance and creates less harmful emissions. V-Power spark plugs also require lower ignition firing voltage, resulting in quicker starts and easier cold weather starts throughout the life of the plugs."

You can run the stock wires but if you can spare the money it's nice to go ahead and change them out while you're doing the swap.

Just for kicks, I measured the resistance on a set of stock plug wires and it was around 360 ohms. A new set of MSD wires measured 35 ohms. Talk about a nice little gain. I was really surprised about the results. I figured how much resistance can there be in a stock wire. But I also thought how much change can there be with aftermarket wires. After the measurements I made with my Fluke, its easy to see, with the resistance cut like that, the plug is getting a lot hotter spark and should allow you to run a bigger plug gap.
