Angry Not seeing any real gains from my bolt-ons?

Okay guys, I have been a little worried that something might be wrong with my car power wise ever since I have had it. My mods are in my sig, last night, I raced two of my friends (one with a 01 SS, and the other with a 99 WS6). The only mods both of them had are a lid, K&N, and exhaust.

I raced them from a 55-130, and could only put a 1/2 car on both of them twice.

Shouldn't I be much stronger than them?

I've been thinking maybe I need some type of engine cleaner or maybe seafoam my car?

The car has only 39k miles.. and I recently changed the plugs (they were gapped huge)

TIA

-John

LT's are a foundation for further mods, but LT's and UD pulley alone aren't going to put car lengths between you and them.
Gearing, driver and state of tune play a larger part when cars closely matched are raced.

Not exactly. I am untuned with open LT's and it gave me 1/2-1 length over a car I used to be dead even with.

Figure about 15-20hp gained. Figure about a little over a tenth gained in the 1/4. Sounds about right. I meant, don't figure to see car lengths (plural) on your pull.

maybe the bigger TB is hurting you. Unless you have some internal engine work done there really isn't a need for a bigger TB. Just a thought

No, the TB is not hurting you. Some cars just perform differently. The competeing cars may be putting down 325rwhp stock, and if you started with only 315rwhp than it makes sense. They may have had 1/4 tank of gas and you had a full one. There are lots of factors that could effect the out come.

I was running on fumes, probably 1/16 of a tank of gas, plus, they even had a passenger and I didn't..

How heavy are your wheels v.s. theirs? Rotational mass really slows you down...

I am running chrome firehawk 17x9 wheels..They both had 17s, but not chrome..

To make the weight difference worse, I had my spare tire and jack removed, while both of them have a full system with a 10" sub and box in the back of theirs..

Your dyno numbers will tell the tale. They will give you a much better comparison than a street race ever will.

Don't fret it. If you ever come down to LR, you'll see lots of races that don't make sense.

Example 1: All bolt-ons minus LS6 intake '00 SS M6 hangs with a bolt-on 224 cammed '99 M6.

Example 2: Same car as above pulls a full bolt-on 232/234 cammed '00 M6.

Example 3: '00 WS6 with LM catback and tune hangs with a full exhaust, tuned, 4000 stalled A4 (me) with DR's from 25-130. Different night, I pulled him by about 1 to 1 1/2 cars.

Point is, anything can happen on the street. You win some, you lose some. There's always surprises and the car that should be the slowest might just spank everyone .

Don't run your tank low - you'll have fun changing out your fuel pump when it dies from overheating!

i ran a bone stock 6 speed at the track and put probably 3-5 lengths on him before the traps. i ran a 13.11 @110.70 and he ran like a 13.6 @106. he had me off the line by about 1/2 car then i got traction and pushed the pedal through the firewall.

Lets not forget that racing from a roll is a terrible way to gauge e/t's / true power of the cars... race them from a dig and see what happens...
