Default Turndown?

I've come to dislike my SLP tips, I'm thinking of chopping the exhaust so it can't be seen. I've heard of people getting turndowns, but don't really know anything about them. I have a LM1 catback on there now, and was also just thinking of going to town with the sawzall a little past the resonator. Will this change my exhaust sound much? What is the point of turndowns? Any chance this will leave me with too little backpressure?

Back pressure will be fine. I'm guessing it will be somewhat louder plus in car noise will be louder do to where the exhaust will exit. I think turn downs give the car a meaner tone also.

If you do that you will have lots of rattles inside the car and lots of bolts getting loose. I had them on my old exhaust, I didn't like it at all, but it did sound very good, very refined sound. But awful sounding from inside the car.

You will get the exhaust note bouncing off the ground and back into the car so it will be louder inside the car. Just paint the tips black and install a cutout and throw away the plate. Backpressure is not a factor at all. It will however effect your scavenging and you could lose power if you don't know what you are doing. I would just do the cutout and call it a day.

Not really looking for extra performance from this, just looks. I doubt I'd gain that much from a cutout, I used to have one on my stock catback and my new LM1 seems to flow more than the old one with the cutout open. When I eventually do cutouts, I'm going to do them right and get dual electronic cutouts. Right now however that money would be better spent on a stall.

If it's going to make the interior that much louder, looks like I'll pass. It's plenty loud now. If I were to see large gains in performance that would be another story.
