Default Lid install

should be a simple issue. how the hell do i get the MAF to slide into the lid with out it cracking? It's MTI clear lid, and stock MAF.

I tried just sliding it in there, but it won't go. how far is it suppose to go in? I looked at the InstallUniversity.com write-up and it looked like it is supposed to go all the way down (I'm guessing since it's a clear lid, more fragile?). I can barely get this thing on 1/4 inch.

any advice it appreciated.

You may want to try a silicon hose to connect the 2 if you are scared of breaking the lid. That was what I did.

There are several suppliers out there. I think that there may be a sponsor or 2 on this site that has a few options.

put a tad bit of soap on your finger for lube then it should slide right on. I can't even tell you how many times I've used soap to slide tight hoses on, etc...

Yeah, but those clear lids can be pretty darn fragile. You could try it, but don't hold him liable for cracking.

i think i'm gonna try a variant of the vernco mod. i picked up a 4 to 3 inch coupler, at first the lid end was way to big, but it tightened down nicely, i still plan on adding a little sealant of some kind, just in case. my only fear is running out of room between where the lid goes and the throttle body.

any thoughts?

Just make sure you have good motor mounts otherwise you will get the cracked lid.

I just put on that mti clear lid, and it sucked. It took me 3 hours to do, because i had to cut into my ram air scoop thing, that black thing that goes over the radiator, and i was trying to find ways around it. After i cut it it went on so much easier, and it took stress and stuff off of the throttle body and everything between. I also made a smooth baffel from the fernco tubing, it workes very well. At the track those 2 things picked up like a straight up tenth, and thats taking into account the wind and weather, it was definitly much faster.

You mean the radiator support? I cut mine a little since im putting a hose around it and not the maf inside so I have more room. You cant even tell though and I have a SLP lid.
