Default Edelbrock Race Headers...

Who has 'em and how was/is the whole experience? Reason I'm asking is because I can get them pretty cheap at work....and the search function is crapping out as usual.

Here's the web page:
http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...ers_race.shtml

They look freakin awesome, and I bet the SS version could rival Kooks... maybe. I'm gonna need some input on that one. Check out the collector!! There's a nascar style collector spike inside.

GM High Tech recently put them in a TA:
http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...tallation.html

I can get 20% off the price at Advance...which is pretty awesome to begin with because we push Edelbrock parts hard! Inputs please!

Do it and dont look back. Many people run them on this site and seeing that they're a quality stepped header, no reason not to buy them.

My ground clearance is good. Y pipe was cheap and never banged either.

Ive got the Ti-tech coated ones with the slip on collectors, and the fit is excellent. The passenger side slips in from the bottom with no issues at all. The drivers side slides in from the bottom, however, you'll need to pull the steering shaft, but it fits back in from the top with no problem. The only thing I didn't do, was to put some kind of sealer on the tubes where they slip into the collectors. You may or may not have leaks there if you don't sel them. The y pipe fits nicely, and the ground clearance is excellent all the way from the headers to the back of the y pipe.

Sweet. Well, one day I might have to yank off the ol' pacesetters and go with some stainless edelbrocks. Any pics of them installed? Pics of the clearance would be awesome too!

Well, your sig pic pretty much answers any clearance questions that might arise. Is that the edelbrock Y?

Impressive. That looks like about the same clearance as the Pacesetter Y pipe, but only without the flat spots. MAN!!..If only I had known about these dudes when I purchased my PaceSetters a long time ago. None of the venders offered them at the time, so I was clueless.

Are yours ceramic coated, Stainles steel, or that tri-tech (or what ever its called)?

Also, hows the merge look inside the Y?

well i went with the edlbrocks for a couple reasons.
they are stepped 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 and its shown to give more power then 1 3/4 and the spary would love it.

It might just be the camera angle, but doesnt the collector have a spike in it?

Oh I would definately go with the edelbrocks if I could do it all over again. If you want to get some without shipping costs, go into Advance Auto near the last day of the month and ask to get a set priced... ask the store manager... then offer to buy them right then if he would give you 20% off. 90% of the time he will do it. If he tells you that he cant do it then tell him you're just going to get them from summit or jegs. That would probably work.

Im sure the edelbrock tucks well but one thing to keep in mind is that thecars that came with the ground effects sit higher.

Also, most longtubes tuck the same. I have installed hooker, jet hot, pacesetter, and flowtek. All of them tuck so high that you cant even hook a straight piece of pipe to them without it hitting the rib on the floorpan on the driver side. Thats the reason for TSP making their y pipe adjustable and the others putting the flat spots in theirs.

Very nice headers. If I didn't go w/ SW, I'd definitely get the HVMC version of this.

Pacesetter are the best budget header. Jet-Hot can sometimes be had for around the same price ($450) and come with a 3-year coating warranty. These Edelbrock ones are nice, but the collectors are 3.5" so you have to use their Y-pipe. I'd try to get a set of used 1-7/8" stainless steel (QTP/Kooks/American Racing) headers for around $500-$650 because of the weather conditions in NY. I wish that's what I did anyways. The 1-7/8" will also help if you plan on internal engine upgrades. Good luck man.
