Default rookie question regrding gauges...

I know its a rookie question but i'm not sure so i'm asking....i am on the verge of doing my cam swap and i want to run some gauges to keep an eye on things like fuel psi, oil psi and water temp....going to run a triple pillar pod and want to use "z" series gauges by autometer but not sure if i should be looking at mechanical gauges or electric....yea, i'm dumb....help me out

electric are more expensive and require a little more wiring to make work. mechanical are cheaper, but if you're monitoring oil PSI, coolant temp, etc...just remember you will be running those fluids into the driver's compartment.

I would definitly go with electric. It's a lot easier to run wires into the passenger compartment than hard lines. Also you do not want hot coolant, oil, and definitly fuel runing up into the pillar. I have an electric fuel pressure guage in the car and a mechanical one under the hood for my stand alone fuel system(for adjustments to the nitrous kit), both guages read exactly the same reading. I usually have the electric on the engine fuel pressure but put it on the stand alone fuel system just to see how accurate they are and it is spot on.

plug those part numbers into a certain mail order speed parts website that rhymes with LEGS and get a good price on them. You can also join their racer discount program, all you have to do I fax them a copy of your NHRA membership card and a timeslip....some pretty sweet discounts!
