You can get them with the egr. You can get the Weiand, Professional Products, or BBK. These are the alternatives aside from a fast. You can get a used intake for a fair price.

The '01's and the '02's didn't come with EGR, So I can't see why you'd fail emissions, as long as you tuned out the light.

How hard is it to install the LS6 intake? Is it just a simple bolt-on, or is it better to take it to a mechanic? (i.e. if someone can figure out how to change their lid, would they be able to handle replacing their intake?)

edit: nevermind, I found the instructions on the slp website. Looks like a mechanics job to me.

It's pretty simple, buy yourself a manual and go for it. If you get stuck someone on here can help you

I don't even like to change my own oil, so I'd rather pay a mechanic to do something like that. I'm just afraid I would destroy something due to my own clumsiness.

I managed to install a lid, and I like mucking around with stereo systems, but for some reason engines scare me.

out of the weiand, professional products, and the bbk since there are all around the same price, what would be the best manifold to get.

I would like to know that as well, as opposed to the plastic OEM ls6 what metal intake would be worth it?

dude, when I got this car I bought a lid. At first it kicked my ***!!
Since then (because of this site) I've intsalled a rear-end, suspension pieces, changed the plugs, and brakes. I am currently working on the LS6 intake (thats why this thread cought my eye) and its going fine so far.

I say GO FOR IT!! paying someone labor costs costs waaaaay too much.

If you can tie your shoes you can install a lid. If you can cut your own food at dinner you can install a manifold.

Just take your time... don't wrestle with the manifold ( generally leads to broken sending unit on the back).

Doesn't sound good....I have to get my mother to cut my steak.

J/K. I actually found some better instructions on ls1howto, doesn't look all that bad when it is spelled out better like it is there. (the pictures help as well) I might have to give it a shot.
