This is taken from the true dual sticky at the top of the page:

Quote:
Q. What kind of gains can I expect with true duals?

A. If you have stock exhaust you will pick up around 30HP by going to duals with a set of headers. If you already have headers and a cat-back, don’t expect a big gain, but some are to be had if the catback is very.

Q. What are the benefits of duals?

A. Many people believe that duals sound much better than cat-backs. I personally believe that a good dual setup sounds better than any cat-back I have heard. That is the main benefit of duals since they yield similar power gains with y-pipes and duals take bit more work to get to fit.
Very well said tylerdj. For your info. I gained 32rwhp & 38rwtq with my dual setup. My work was custom made so it was a bit expensive. You'll never own a y-pipe again. I know I won't!

i have long tubes with a true dual set up with x pipe, that dump at the rearend. im running magnaflow bullets, i have other upgrades as well, but when your cruising the car sounds pretty mellow for what it has, once its opened up it sounds like a whole different car. i have been told my car sounds like the sprint cars, lol, im not sure about that but it is loud when shes open.

If your car sounds like a sprint car then your car is damn loud and mean sounding dude. I can't wait to get my kit and install it and hear and feel the difference. I am excited.

I vote td all the way. My car is lowered a little over 1 inch, i have 3 inch pipping all the way back, with a 3 inch x, and i have decent ground clearance. I can drive it without to much worry. I believe when you get to higher hp big cubes, heads/cam you can pick up 10hp with 3 inch td. Plus they sound amazing. Just pick out a good muffler. Moroso spiral flows is what i got, and normal driving they sound nice, if i floor it it screams.

so has anyone owned, or at least heard in person, more than one of the options tsp offers on its tds. Ive heard vid clips, and from those liked the sweet thunders the most, but being there in person is a whole different thing.

+1 for sweet thunders. i have them as well and i love it, it's pretty mild just cruising but at WOT it sounds amazing. i got 2.5 inch piping and i've had no clearance issues yet.

True duals will flow and sound the best compared to a catback, but they can have some clearance and fitment problems depending on the installation and your suspension setup. Catbacks are generally less headache, fit well, and still perform nicely. Slight advantage - true duals!

That's like asking if you prefer to have 6 inches or 12.

True duals will out perform a single pipe anyday...

Depends on how loud you want your car to be. If loud is what you want go with the true duals.
