Question Best Airfilter For Slp Lid???

I have a 98 Z28 with a SLP lid. I had read that the Holley filter was better as far as fit. Does anyone have any experience with both the Holley and K&N and able to give advice? Thanks

The K&N sucks... just ditched it for a paper filter. I'd like to hear how the Holley fits though.

Edit: I said the K&N sucks because it sagged on the left and right sides to the extent that my MAF screen was covered in bugs. Then again, that filter has been in the car since about 50k, and it has 190k on it now. It was fine when it was bought. I suppose that any air filter that had been re-used that much might have the same problem.

Here's how to get the best filter for your lid ... Go to XYZ Auto Parts. Ask for an air filter for your car. Accept whatever paper filter they offer you - Fram, Wix, whatever - and place it on your car. Congratulations! You have the best air filter!

Just curious... but with such a stern reply... did you have a bad experience with a cotton gauze filter?

I am lost as to why people think SLP lids dont fit right. I just bought and installed one last night and the only thing "hard" about the fitment was getting it to slide onto the TB. After it's on, it's on there good n tight. Mine fit PERFECTLY and sealed right up great. Easiest install ever...

WHAT HE SAID !!!!
The paper is the best buy going & it works better than a K&N . Now about the others , I really don't know. But if you've got the money & want the very best then go with a AMSOIL.

Any time you pay $50.00 for a K&N and it feels like your car is faster , It's called "THE PLACEBO EFFECT " !

AS A MAN THINKETH !

My car had the K&N when I bought it. I put a paper one in and then back to K&N and felt no difference either way. However, I have had a K&N in my truck since 1994 so I was already practiced at cleaning and oiling it. Someone else might be better off staying with paper.

I had that problem with my old lid. Idk if it was the stock lid or not, but the SLP lid fits great and it was easy to put on. I have a K&N filter right know and I like it, it was better than w/e was in it when I bought it.

You could buy almost (5) good quality paper filters for the price of just one K&N and you don't have to spend time cleaning the damn thing or jacking around with toxic cleaners . Its a no brainer !
