Default Ls6 vs FAST Intake question

I have the stock ls1 intake and I know that I need to upgrade because it is robbing me of power, But is getting the FAST intake worth the money because it seems really over priced. Is the FAST intake gonna get me that much more HP or should I just spend $400 and get the Ls6 intake manifold?

I am no mechanical guru but I would think with the mods in your sig. you would really benefit from the FAST intake and perhaps the Nick Williams TB. The LS6 intake is a good one but with your heads and cam i would think the extra money would be well spent. Let that thing breath!

I agree, you should see an incredible increase in power over the ls1 intake. That thing is robbing you of mega power with that setup you have. It should have been higher on your list to get rid of that POS ls1 intake.

Would it be an OK idea to upgrade to the Fast 90, even if you are only planning on running nothing but mild bolt-ons? (lid, SSRA, exhaust, Diablo tune)?

I know it is kind of a waste of money, but it isn't going to hurt performance to run a Fast 90 on a car like that, is it? I am assuming you should still see gains from it. Or would it be better to just get the Fast 78 or even the LS6?

I'd just run a ls6 if you didn't plan on doing any major mods.

im in the process of selecting my cam( going with something like TR228 or 228/232) im gonna wait till i have the cam to decide on the manifold, i think im going to go ls6 with the cam only, if i ever get around to getting heads and spray i would def switch,
for the price the 78mm fast doesnt seem to flow well enough to justify the cost of the setup, also check some of the threads, as there are quite a few on ls6 vs fast setups, seems most cam only people are running ls6, but if you plan on heads for sure or bigger cubes, go with the 90mm, get it ported and go for a NW 90mm TB

How much more HP would the FAST set up give me over the ls6?

Thats pretty good info but you may want to scale the graphs a bit for readability.

FWIW: When I switched from the LS6 to the FAST 78 with a ported stock TB I picked up a whopping 10 HP but lost 7 ft/lbs of torque. Wasn't real happy but I managed a deal so it only cost me about $150

You're talking $300 vs $1100 for unported 90/90. Add $500 for ported FAST. Don't know how much for ported Nick Williams TB. It's all about how much money you got. I got me a LS6 for $300 shipped and I'm happy. Got a nice SOTP increase throughout the rpm range. So I'm guessing 10hp at least. Ported TB is next. I'm all stock other than lid and catback so gains will increase once I get headers and TB. Intake is less of a bottle neck now. So another $800 for 10hp(unported TAST) or $1300 for 20hp(ported FAST). Personally I would get them if I had a bigger cube engine. They should offer even bigger gains.

You should definitely get a FAST 90 with the H/C setup.

You've already put a lot of money into your setup...why skimp on one of the more crucial parts. That setup will really come alive with a 90/90 on it. They are expensive as hell, a little overpriced in my personal opinion, but at least you're leaving nothing on the table when you go with a ported 90/90.

As mentioned you've got heads plus a pretty damn big cam so definitely go with the 90/90. I went from LS6 to the 90/90 and with the addition of an underdrive pulley and adjusted tuning a little bit (richened it up some) I still picked up 30RWHP and about 22RWTQ.
