header gaskets? everybody chime in on your opinion!! Ok on a new set of headers i'm trying to help my buddy out with his and narrow it down for him was wondering whats the best gasket to use and not worry about blowing out in a month lol so i dont have to help him with this anytime soon again ....
Gm stock gaskets
Percys seal 4-good aluminum style
Mr gasket copper gasket
etc...........
and any other please fill free to tell about them ......he needs a good set so help me out on this one guys ( i would have used the search but it just shows a freakin blank screen, whats up with the search lately it's nutz???) thanks.......

Stock isn't paper, stock is multi-layered steel.
And that's my vote. Sealed perfect with my Pacesetter's.
I know friends who have had great results with Percy's, but they're kinda pricey.......

GM MLS are the best. I did use though after I found out Dynatech's gasket, which is also MLS but is directional which made it a PITA finding the correct orientation.

New stock GM gaskets, are pefect. not a damn thing in the world wrong with them. They are cheaper and are proved time and time again to be fine. If you really wanna fork out the cash for the percys for peace of mind then go for it. Its really not neccesary, but you cant put a price on peace of mind.
Personally, I used stock GM gaskets and had no problems.

You're on the right track with metal gaskets. The stock GM's are great, but they're also very rigid. This makes them unforgiving for uneven header flanges. I got the Percy's aluminums to be on the safe side. They're multi-layer soft aluminum so they conform to any irregularities.
I'd stay away from copper due to possible galvanic corrosion with the aluminum heads, but that's just MO.

So my vote is for the GM's....although I've never had the chance to try the others.
