i ddi this conversion on my 2000 TA, i did NOT have to cut the block as some have had too. I beleive mine was like 80 bux from my local dealer....the lil red cap comes on there, the lil black cap doesnt. I found one of those at my local hardware store for a quarter or so.

When it comes to part numbers normally it does not matter when you ordered it. If the design changes they normally give it a new number. If you order part number 12568002 (like the one on ls1howto.com) you will get the older 2001+ LS6 style valley plate. If you order part number 12577927 (as MM98) pointed out you will get the 2004 LS1/6 valley plate with the built in PCV system.

That sound like it would work. My friend has a 2007 vette I will try and get a look at the valley plate tube on the LS2. I rather see it first before I shove something in there. Even a metal cap with a 2.5mm size hole in it should work.

EDIT-From what I have learned there may not be a single orifice in the tube. The PCV function may come from the holes at the bottom of the housing mounted to the valley cover.

Interesting. And when you think you know something you get proved wrong.

My 2000 Z28 didnt need any cutting on the block either. Guess we got lucky! Wish I would have known about the updated valley cover at the time though.

Good thread, took me awhile to figure this out on my own. Wish I would have known this awhile ago.

Part number 12573109 (LS6 PCV valve and hose assembly) is 76.00 my cost
Helicoil, Please correct me if I am wrong. But I understood you to say that P/N 12573109 is only needed if you are using the old style LS6 intake as the new style has the PVC inside of the valley cover. If the new stlye is used all that is needed is the U shaped hose that does not require the external PVC.

I'm assuming that you still have to cut the block with the 04' plate?

It appears that is the part number for the updated cover and the "U" shaped hose. If you were to run a catch can then you would not need the tube as you would have hose running from the cover's tube to the catch can and from the catch can to the intake.

The block will determine that. There are housings on both covers so that if there is a "boss" obstruction in that location it will have to trimmed. I think the obvious visual indicator that shows you will have to cut are the "bulls-eye" markings on the front of the engine.
