A "How not to" make your own O2 extensions
Customer complains of CEL on and engine not running right.
6 of the 8 spark plug wires were on the wrong cylinders. Scanned for DTC's and found a few O2 heater circut codes.
Put the car in the air and found that someone didn't want to spend the money on O2 extensions or buy O2 sensors with longer wires.

I think using a wiring harness meant for trailer lights was a nice touch.
A kid owns the car. He traded his truck for it. He did put the wires on wrong but he didn't do the headers or the hack job wiring. The wiring harness is going to have to be rebuilt and several pig tail connectors.
Everyone in the shop today came and looked at it. It quite epic. Some of the worst work I've seen in a while. I feel bad for the kid and I'm going to try and help him out as much as I can.

Soldering is so cheap and easy it amazes me people are too lazy to watch a 5 min YouTube video and figure out how to do it. I use a $5 torch style cigarette lighter for most wire repairs, 60/40 solder from radio shack is like $1 or $2, and shrink tube from harbor freight is a few bucks.

You sir, are a great mechanic. I honestly mean this, most mechanics would tell this kid he needs a new engine and is gonna spend $5k+. Whether or not he realizes it, he appreciates your help.
Replaced spark plugs, put the factory coils back on, fixed the horrible throttle body gasket leak. Car fired right up. Runs and drives great. Much to my surprised it didn't have anything else wrong with it.
