Default Help!! LS6 install went wrong...

I was installing my new ls6 intake today and **** just went straight downhill. First, I lost a wrench behind the engine which I have still yet to find. Next, I broke the oil pressure sensor. From what I hear most people do that and its just a trip to the autoparts store to replace. What Im really worried about that I havent seen is that I also broke the PCV line behind the intake manifold. If you look at this pic http://www.ls1howto.com/howto/geniii...kpcvsystem.jpg it is right where the two pipes from the left meet and go to a single pipe on the right. The tub elooks like it just shreaded. I think it was already pretty weak because I didnt pull very hard at all. How do I fix this?

If you want to keep it, fab up your own with some rubber hose and hose clamps. I guess it's either 5/16 or 3/8 hose. I know the dealer charges a pretty nice price on a replacement.

Oh yeah, welcome to the BOPSU club. I increased my oil pressure by just switching sending units

Ace hardware? Maybe you can find a three way pipe barb.they have brass and plastic but I don't know if the sizes will suit you.

Well things look a little better in the daylight. The only part of the pcv that is broken is the little rubber piece that connects the auctual piping, which seems to have disintegrated. I went to every part shop around here but they all said its a dealer only part. Oil pressure sensor is gone too, so I guess I have another days wait till I can get the parts to finish it up. That 8mm wrench is still MIA after hours of looking though....If I cant find it would it be ok to start the car? It fell behind/to the left of the engine, so I dont think its on any moving parts.

You shouldnt need that line anymore since your going to a ls6 valley cover.

You can get an ac delco one at napa/car quest/ parts city if you have one. My gf found a guy at parts city that said he can get most gm parts withint 3 hours. He held up to his word. Anyways, 98 has a different sending unit then 99-02. Make sure you get the right one. 98 is a 3 wire, and 99-02 is 2 wire i believe.. The new unit reads my oil pressure is higher also. Dont feel bad about breaking the unit though, everyone does. Once you do one, and know what your doing, you can do it easy.
I highly doubt the wrench could hurt anything.

Good luck.

Haha yeahhhh I was hoping I could get it done in a day, but no luck there. I got a new Y for the pcv tubing. A dealer would only sell the entire pcv setup for almost $100. Luckily the guy there had a bunch of extras from when they switched to LS6 on TAs and camaros so he sold it to me for $10. Now all I have to wait for is the damn oil pressure sensor. spdfrk I didnt do the valley cover switch, only the intake manifold so I do need the pcv.

I really did enjoy doing the swap. It really helped me to get to know what all is in the engine bay. Plus while I was waiting around for the sensor to come I got bored and cleaned the valley cover, the tops of the heads (filthy), and different parts of the engien bay.

Your wrench is probably either on top of your starter or on top of your bellhousing, when tools get dropped it's like plinko on the price is right

On my 55,000 mile car, that same hose was pretty much shredded and the motor has never been messed with. It is a very poor and weak design. Luckily, I have another Ls1 sitting on the shelf and was able to use it's hose assembly.

How does this hose get eliminated? When deleting the EGR? Or just the valley pan like mentioned above?

that wrench might be fine now until it falls on the red starter wire and goes to ground when your driving it.also there is a mod for your Pcv system some where in a sticky,i think JMX how to site.http://www.ls1howto.com/

When I did mine, I didn't care how long it took. I was going to get it. Broke nothing and had zero problems.

I got the car out on the road for the first time today and its running like a champ. No hoses got pinched, all the coolant lines cleared (I was a little worried because I ground the tabs instead of going w/ ls6 lines), and it looks great to top it off. As another plus was on the first turn I took I heard a little clink clink clink, when I got out I saw the wrench laying right behind the car Im getting a catch can next so I dont have to worry about to much oil getting in my new manifold.

The one thing that is bugging me is that the fuel injectors didnt "pop" back in to the manifold. The first few did, but no matter how hard I pushed the remaining ones wouldnt pop. I tightened the bolts on the rail and they all seemed to set in the holes pretty securely. No matter how hard I tried they wouldnt move an inch. After a few wot runs on the highway nothings leaking so I assume theyre ok. Other than that everythings awesome.

Ok thats cool, glad its not just me. Just thought I would put this out there, has anyone ever done engine work with the back wheels on ramps? I did the swap like this because I had switched the phb right before and it made accessing the engine much easier. With the back wheels up on ramps you can easily reach anywhere in the engine compartment without much stretching and the front bumper support acts more like a kneeling post for you to just lean forward on. Personally, I think it made the job a lot easier.
