Default Throttle Body Bypass

I'm sure most of you know this mod... it's probably a gimmick, maybe not, i dunno...

my question is, I did this mod a couple years ago... however i never plugged up the two pipes coming out of the throttle body... is this a problem?

Perfectly fine...but if you ever do hook the coolant lines back up to it, just flush it out inside first so any dirt that has gotten in there doesn't get into your coolant.

In theory this is a great mod IMO. Why would someone like my self need coolant running through my TB while living in warm CA weather. Like Mike454SS said: If you decide to ever use it again, give it a good clean. If your that worried about it I have rubber caps that fit it perfect at my work if you need a couple shoot me a PM.

mine have been uncapped since 2005, your fine.

the mod is pratically free to do. all it does is by pass HOT coolant from entering the TB, so it makes it so that the air is cooler

I don't think it will hurt anything uncapped, but I capped mine using vacuum caps. They were like $2.

This is the only test I've found. It shows a 6HP 7FT/LBS peak gain, with an average gain of 5.6HP and 6.8FT/LBS. This testing was performed on a LT1, but I would expect similar results on the LS1 considering the similarity.

I can't see using any type of a CAI setup without bypassing the TB coolant. Seems like you'd be defeating the purpose, or at minimal not getting the full benefit.

Pulled the tubes out when I polished my TB. No need for them, just look ugly sticking out there.
