Do you guys burn oil?

I see a difference between summer and winter: in winter it consumes less oil.
Otherwise I'm about at the same level as the other guys that posted here.
0W40, 5W30, 10W30, 0W50... I tried them all and saw no significant difference in oil consumption, just in oil pressure.

When I first got my car I used mobil 1 religiously and burned 1 to 1.5 quarts every 3k but then when I finally made the switch to German Castrol it stoped. I only burn a 1/4 of a quart to 1/2 a quart if I really beat on it. I have 2300 on my current oil and made 5 passes at the track and raced 2 people and have only burned almost 1/4 of a quart so far.

LS1 and LS2s tend to use a little oil. My 05 GTO running Mobile 1 used about a quart 3-5k. I switched to RP and used a little less. I think it has to do with film strength and vaporization during start-up. jmo.
I have not noticed a big oil burning in th Z, but I have not had it that long. a little oil use just comes with the territory.

I ran M1 5w30 for a long time, then I saw all the bad used oil analysis's of the M1 in our engines and got that junk out of the car asap. I was going through a full quart and a half every 3000 miles as well. I went with GC 0w30 after that but that actually seemed just as loud or louder with the valvetrain noise, and I was still using a quart to two every 3000 there as well. My latest stop has been Royal Purple XPR 10w40 and it's quieter, and I have added not even 1/2 quart the last 3000 miles. I also hear on bobistheoilguy.com that Penzoil Platinum and Amsoil work well in the LS motors.

MY H/C car has never burned oil either before or after the head swap. In fact, I have NEVER added any oil between changes. My intervals are 5,000 - 6,000 miles.
I did install an extra large (2 inch x 8 inch) catch can made from pvc pipe which is always bone dry. I rarely check it now.
For oils, I have tried everything from 10w - 30W to 0W - 50W - sythentic and dino. I use cheap filters - Fram also!
