Coolant bypass is smelly?

Coolant bypass is smelly? I found the reason my engine smelled like anitifreeze at normal operating temps; the coolant bypass pipe was leaking!
...you know, this is the small T pipe gizmo that connects to the enine block in two places near each head - in front of the intake...
Anyway, what does this do anyway? If I rememebr correctly, it just keeps the throttle body from freezing up in the winter; right?

The Throttle body uses the steam / coolant system to assist in warming up the engine on cold starts, It also keeps that Throttle body at a temp that is a good operating temp for those in the colder climates. If you bypass the Throttle body, it may take a little longer to warm up and have problem in the colder regions during winter driving.
But it has it benefits of running a bit cooler since the Plastic Intake isolates the T/B from the heat and without the hot coolant, you get a cooler air charge. Most of the time, no PCM tuning is needed and you can alway reconnect the line during the winter.
