intake install gone bad....
intake install gone bad.... well I installed my ls6 intake today and went to start it up.....ran for a min and started making a noise like a rod was knocking. before anyone ask, I blew it out with air and tried to make sure nothing was in the intake. Everything was conneted and so on. My only thought is that somehow something was in there and went into the engine. I did grind all the tabs off, so I guess a shaving could have been in there, but like I said I tried to make sure it was clean. you guys have any ideas? if something did get in there what is my next step? s friend with some knowledge is going to try to come tonight or tomorrow to take a look, so I will know more then.
Is your idel low? Could be misfires from a vacuume leak. Did you make sure the knock sensor wires were not over a intake port? Start the car and blow starting fluid all around the intake to see if RPM jumps. Did you plug the coil packs back in if you undid them?
Pull all the plugs before you attempt to fire it again.
If you see any damaged plug(s) you will know which cylinder(s) ingested something.
At that point your going to pull the heads and access the damage...

I did pull all the pugs and they were not damaged. funny thing though. I started it up for someone to listen too and it made the noise 3 times and went away. he looked over everything, let the car run for awhile. Started and restarted it many times. Took it for a drive.....and nothing. The noise went away.......don't know what it was but I hope it dosen't come back. I plan on taking it easy for a few days. Kinda strange......
