Ok, What the f@*k is this?? So I'm swapping my LS1 intake and I finally get the damn intake off and find this thing broken at the back of the valley cover. It was definately broken before I pulled the intake off cause I didn't here anything snap and the intake actually came out pretty easy.
Anyone know what this thing is?
Anyone have a part number for it?
Also, could this be the cause of the whining sound I've been hearing that would rise with the revs of the car (its about where I thought the sound was coming from)?
Finally, how do I take this thing out to replace it?

Yup, happens all the time during an intake swap. GM PN is 12562267 but available at your local parts store. Replace it before you put the intake back on. Disconnect the wiring connector and unscrew the metal part.

Great, What is the size is the metal part, I couldn't get a socket over it, I guess I need to get a wrench for it.

Use whatever you can get back there, you can pick up a special socket at the parts store specially made for them - should be able to reach it with something with the intake off. Don't think it has anything to do with your whining sounds.

I guess I'll just keep corssing my fingers, I know this thing had to be broken before the intake came off. I might have finished it off a bit, but it had to be cracked at leased.

Like mentioned already, it happens all the time. It didnt happen to me because I knew from reading all the threads about people breaking them how to get intake out without breaking it.
i dont know about it being broken before hand....
everyone on here just says that thing snaps off really easy because of its location. not because its loose,
hard to believe but that one was just a screw up on GM's part from the factory (aka, window motors, bubbling sail panel and stupid coolant through throttle body)

It was not broken before you took the intake off. You broke it with the brake booster hose because the hose runs behind it and when you pull the intake forward to take it out of the car the hose breaks the sensor clean off.

If it was cracked before, your gauges would say ZERO for oil pressure, and your "check gauges" light would go on.
If you don't suck at life, you would have noticed it before you pulled the intake.
And the whistling is probably your alternator. Lots of people have a whine.

not true, my sensor was left off after i put my ls6 manifold and the psi sat at 0 but my check gauges light wasn't on. the sensor can be picked at autozone for around $40 you'll need a sensor socket, $5-8 i believe
