You sure it's not leaking somewhere? It shouldn't be that loud.

It is not really me. ...mostly my neighbors, however. Several have commented on how loud this car sounds.

I like to leave the house to play golf on weekends early. ..driving around the neighborhood at 5am with LTs, headers and a mild cam with a Hooker muff is VERY loud!

Anyway, I think all the hype about cat-backs producing more power is over-rated. What could you expect a Hooker to produce over a factory muff - 10 HP MAX; right?

You must have left your cutout open is all got to say on this one. Hooker is the quietest one I've ever ran.

I don't know what the gain was but I had a stock catback with a cut-out traded that for a hooker catback and there was a huge seat of the pants differance it was night and day. There was more of a seat of the pants differance from catback than headers and y-pipe. Your neighboors need to STFU, they would hate were I live nothing but loud *** trucks, cars, motorcycles.

you might as well buy a hybrid where the barely make any noise at all...that will suit you best. But seriously, have you ever heard a car with open headers? if you want it quieter lookf for a used slp 2 on the left catback, i think theres one on specializedstainless website or get a bullit muffler in the I-pipe! http://store.specializedstainless.co...t/Detail?no=44

I have lts/ory with stock exhaust and an slp Dual Dual Oem muffler welded in and it sounds exactly like i still have my stock camaro muffler. Its stock like quiet. I think im gonna get the hooker catback and throw a cutout on the car.

Well your neighbors must be bitchy old folks then. Cause the Hooker is not loud enough to complain about even with LT's, ORY & H/C. Especially not driving slow thru a neighborhood, unless you try to cruise thru in 1st gear at 4k RPM's. I leave for work everyday about 5:30 am & none of my neighbors have ever complained.

And your thoughts on HP loss thru a catback are incorrect. There have been dyno comparisons of several different types of mufflers to show gains & losses. All it takes is a little research to find the info.

SLP dual/dual or maganflow oval bullet in the i-pipe. Only way to quiet it down without restricting the power too much. Or you could go with a true dual setup with cats (2 magnaflow metallicats) and 4 magnaflow mufflers (two oval after the x-pipe, then two mufflers with tips coming out the rear). That would be very quiet.

Hooker catback can not be that loud as your neighbors are makign it out to be. I've got the Hooker c/b w/ ORY and LT's and drive it to work about once a week. You can't even hear the car running hardly when you step more than about 10 feet away.

Now when you open the electric cutout, then the fun begins but otherwise, its extremely quiet.

Where do you get a GM stock cat-back muffler?
Wow, i can barely hear my exhaust and I have the hooker catback, lt's, and catted y-pipe (thats why i have the cutout ). You are right though, if the hooker catback is too loud you are pretty much stuck with a stock catback or you could put a bullet in the i-pipe. You could probably find a stock catback on here in the classifieds.

Well it is LOUD.

...no other way to explain it. I can hear the car a few blocks away when wife is driving.

Can;t really light it up in the driveway at off hours.

The stainless 2 out one side muff looks good; will this bolt to my Hooker over-the-rear pipe?

The only hooker I have thats quiet is on my truck. Just swapped out the factory muffler for an aero chamber and Its a tad lounder then stock. Now on my car the hooker CB is loud as ****. Its 408ci, LT's, ORY, no cats and SS CME. Going down the road over 2000rpm its loud, and between 3000-5000 its raspy sounding. Im to thinking thinking about swapping to something a little easier on the ears. Ive got electric cutouts for when I want loud.

Mine is too quiet. I drive around with the cutout cracked just so I can hear some exhaust note. You should leave your driveway sideways with the cutout open.
