Default Hooker cat-back - way too loud!

Should I go back to the stock GM cat-back? The Hooker muff is the worst mod I have ever done - way too loud for my taste after market w/ LT headers, cats and Y-pipe.

SLP dual-dual is no longer availible.

Where do you get a GM stock cat-back muffler?

Hooker is too loud? That is the first time that I have heard that one, esp. with cats! You could always add a bullit to the I pipe. The stock GM muffler would become the biggest restriction in your exhaust if you go that route, so I guess it comes down to performance vs. volume.

...billit to the pipe?

...you mean a cherry bomb in the Y-pipe before the cat?

would this make things as queit as the stock muff?

I thought hooker was supposed to be one of the quiet exhausts out there. Especially with the cats still in.

Buy a mangaflow f body muffler. 3" in and 2.5" out. It's slightly louder than stock unless you are over 2k with your foot in it!

yea i have the hooker catback i think its VERY quiet... unless your rolling around at 2500+ rpms... this is crazy.

i have the stock exhaust from my formula in my garage if thats what your looking for, but the I pipe that goes over the axle was hacked up, i used a sawzaw to get it off, had no plans on ever putting it back on.

i'm still suprised at this!

Man hooker is about the quietest exhaust on the market.
Magnaflow is tame as well.
I don't think I have ever heard anyone complain about the hooker being to loud.

Thats what I"m thinking. If the Hooker is too loud, you probably won't be happy with aftermarket exhaust on a LS1. Especially with more mods.

I think mine is really tame compared to others & I have LT's, ORY & H/C.

yea zactly, i have LT's, ORY, and the hooker c/b ... i feel its ALOT quieter than just my previous catback, altho that was the loudmouth... it was alot louder even with stock cats and manifolds.

i guess just keep your stock exhuast on there, i had LT's, ORY and my stock catback for about a week, it sounded stock to me... but i hated it. and i could really feel a difference after i put the hooker on there...

SLP Dual/Dual or add a magnaflow bullet muffler into the I-pipe as someone else suggested. SLP dual/dualcame on slp equiped vehicles from the factory. See if you can find one for sale in the for sale section. Otherwise, take off your headers and run stockers?
