I thought you couldn't lift the engine from the oil pan. How did you imlement the block of wood to lift it?

I just put a big yellow telephone book between the jack and oil pan and jacked it up slowly

That sounds so true, before I bought my solids I did a lot of research and noticed everyone that said they cause way too many vibrations didn't actually own solids. Don't get me wrong, solids DO cause more vibrations, but they're really not that noticeable(on most occassions) and make the car feel more like it should IMO. and on the plus side, most girls will probably like the extra vibrations on the seat

place the wood between the jack and the oil pan. It really isn't much more complicated than that. You just need a piece decently long and wide enough to spread the weight across the wood. Just not so long that when you start jacking it up it doesn't catch on something.

Very, very true. You'll notice that with a lot of aftermarket parts. People tend to give their opinion even though they've never tried it.
