I posted a while back because I had a leaky connetion with one of my radiator hoses. I fixed that and no leak from there, but still after I drive my car I can pop the hood and smell radiator fluid really strong. I don't see any puddles on the ground. Could there be a leak that is dripping onto the engine and burning off? If it is a leak its really slow. I hardly ever have to put fluid in.

just look for leaks around the pump, it could be still leaking without over heating. antifreeze is like gasoline, a little smells like awhole dang bucket. check the caps itself, see if its blowing fluid by, do u smell it inside the car?

The only time I see it go over normal temp is if say I stop at a gas station on a hot day then start it back up, but the fan cools it down in like 30 seconds and it stays down after that. I smell it in the car sometimes when i'm driving with the windows open really faint so its probably just blowing in from outside. Lately after driving on all these hot days I can pull into my garage, shut the car off, get out and smell it without even popping the hood.
One day I did hear like a bubbling/sucking noise coming from the radiator cap.

I think I found the leak. I felt moisture on the underside of the pipe marked in blue. It didn't have a smell but it was a kinda dirty brownish red color. Excuse the dirty engine bay, this is actually an old pic. Its much cleaner now.

Both of my 2002's have a noticable odor of antifreeze when I pop the hood after returning home from a drive, one of which has an untouched motor/radiator. No need to replenish fluid, no drip, no leak ever found. I try not to dwell on it but rather accept it.

i have a 99 that smells i checked ever hose and connection to the water pump crawled under the car and checked the pump to motor and no leaks and never add fluid the smell seems to be coming from around the radiator cap
