Default Why not remove the A/C?

Lamar Walden is going to start building the C5R engine this week for my 02 ZL1. When I asked him about leaving the a/c out I thought he would say I was nuts, but instead, he thinks it will clean up the engine compartment, remove weight, make intake easier to fabricate, etc. He said something about having to find some eary 1LE parts to make it look right. I think with the coil packs relocated and leaving out the air the motor will look much better. What do you guys think?

Also, how are the electric water pumps holding up? Any news on them lately?

Mine's gone. Definitely cleans up the engine bay, and removes just over 30 lbs, too. Not sure what he is talking about with the 1LE parts though.

Where I live not having A/C would suck. If you are building a race car, and not a street car, then fine.....delete the A/C. If you want a car you dont ever feel is a hassle to drive, put the A/C in. It doesnt hurt anything to keep it in.

After i removed mine i lose some sec & mile's in 1/4, Yes. it doesn't hurt anything to keep it in, but if delete it you'll lose some mile's at 1/4 and up.

I don't follow exactly, but that is not theoretically possible. If all is the same, this mod will help your times. You have less weight to accelerate.

That's why GM spent so much money developing the lighter front windshield and tatanium exhaust for the Z06.

I know where I can get you a titanium catback for your car but the pipes are only 2.75 in diameter.

I LOVE my a.c., with the leather seats it would suck ***, also, when your running faster than alot of built race cars, nothing beats the a.c. on the return road, lol

A daily driver MUST have A/C anywhere with any kind of heat. Think of it this way, do YOU want to explain to your date or g/f, etc, why you are all sweaty and why they shouldn't ever ride in your car if they dont' want to be all sweaty themeselves?

if it's not a daily driver i would say go for it. just removing the EGR and AIR parts cleaned up under the hood of my car ALOT, so i can imagine the it would look really good with the a/c gone and relocated coil packs. this would also make the car much easier to work on

ya if you dont have it as a daily driver or live in a cool or actually earthly climate then do it. but down here, it would be unreal to not have it, especially after a long work day outside.
