Can ram air hood baffles be easily reinstalled?
I'm considering removing my hood baffles. However, I'd like to be able to reinstall them if I get tired of messing around with blocking the nostrils off when it rains. I know the back baffle is rivited in and can be easily reinstalled. How is the front baffle attached to the hood and can it be easily reinstalled?
Thanks,
Jim

It would be considerably hard to reinstall your front baffles. I considered doing it, but they are directly connected to the hood (as far as I can tell). You would have to cut them out with a drimmel or something making it virtually impossible to reinstall.
The front baffles are riveted and glued in on both ends.
The back side of each can be reached through the rear baffle hole and pop loose with your hand.. the front side, the best way to remove them is to stick a flat screw driver in through the grill opening and twisting it. The glue coming loose makes a terrible sound.. but the baffle come right out.
They come out in one piece and could be reinstalled with the proper glue.
I've ran my car for over 2 years without them and driven through some serious rain & snow... never had any issues.

Since the front baffles are also riveted just go get some small screwlike bolts with nuts and attach them that way. That's what I did and works great. Bought stuff at Lowe's for about a dollar.
you can get some rainguards for around $20 that go on and off in about 15 seconds. or you can make them or a little less. you don't even have to open the hood, and when the rain clears,
wala ramair again ( yea yea, cold air induction)

Actually, I took plexiglass and cut it to the shape of the nostrils. I plan to put the plexiglass behind the original nostril screens when it rains. That way it looks factory. The only done side is it will take me a couple of seconds to install the plexiglass before driving in the rain. Oh well, I quess I'll see how that works out for me.

Good idea... but I think it would be easier and look better to do that on the back baffle hole.. under the hood.
so they are quicker, and don't get the engine bay soaked.
I tried poping the rear baffle out with my hand but it doesn't want to move at all. Are there any tricks?
For the ones in the nose...
I found it best to stick a screw driver through the grill hole and place it under the edge (transition baffle to hood). Then just gently twist. They make an awful noise when they "pop" loose, but don't hurt anything.
I ended up using a 1/8 drill bit & drilling out the rivets for the back baffle. It came out pretty easy. The front one I used the back of a hammer & pulled on it until the glue came loose then I ripped it out. Took my about an hour but I'm a rookie with this do it yourself stuff.

I'm considering doing this but I am afraid I might forget to put in the rain gaurds. I most likelly will forget knowing me. Has anyone drivin through heavy rain with out any type of rain gaurd on? Any problems?
LOL.. never had a rain guard
Car was my only transportation till April last year.. prior to that is was driven thought rain sleet or snow
Including some go old Florida gulley washers
Never a single issue.

Where did you guys get your rain guards, or did you make them yourselves? By removing the baffle do you get a noticeable hp increase? I cut my air box and that made a huge difference.
I removed all baffles. I also had a spacer fabricated to seal the hood to the airbox.
It's my daily driver and I drive through some heavy rains with zero problems. I've never installed a block off plate or anything.
