Default Single 3"?

Will a single 3" pipe be enough to give me 350hp at the wheels or will I need something more free flowing? I have a '01 LS1 with Hooker long tubes into a 3" Y with a single 3" cat and a magnaflow muffler. I'm looking to make 350hp at the wheels, will this exhaust setup give me enough flow or will I need to go to duals, or cutouts, or...? The reason I like it now is it's pretty quiet and it's my daily driver/trip car so I don't want it super loud. Any help is appreciated.

A single 3" will be fine. Many people are running 400rwhp on a single 3" cat-back.

It would help to know your other mods to know where your at. A4? M6? Gears?

Yes, it will be more than sufficient. I made 354rwhp with only bolt ons through a y setup, and 445rwhp through 4.10s after heads/cam before switching to true duals.

Did nobody else notice the Single 3" cat? That might restrict flow a little.

Oh yeah, mods, sorry. It'll have the hooker longtubes, underdrive pulley, cone filter, 12lb flywheel, and a tune. M6 with 3.42 gears, this is in my '85 Celica by the way. Thanks for the info, and will the single 3" cat restrict it? I have room to move it and put one in on either side right behind the headers if needed. I may change my mind later but I'm not really worried about huge amounts of power since the car only weighs 2700lbs and the widest tires I can fit on the back are 275s without doing some serious cutting.

Bump. Anyone know if a single 3" cat will be restrictive, or should I get dual cats? Thanks.

I think dual cats' may offer less restriction.

I've made a bit more than 350 with QTPs, a modded Y-pipe, dual cats', and open Borla. I don't think you'll have a problem with a good tune.

A single 3" is good for 375 flywheel before it starts becoming a restriction. A single 4" is good to 660 flywheel before it starts to restrict. I can't remember where i found this info but it also stated dual 3" and dual 4" also. Dual 3" was 750 to 800 plus. Dual 4" was way the f up there.

Damn, I guess since I'm looking for 350 RWHP I'll need to get another cat since that's a good bit more than 375 flywheel. I don't think I have enough ground clearance to put a single 4" in but dual 3" should be easy enough to fit. I'm still on the fence about just getting cutouts for when I want a really free flowing exhaust though.
