alcohol is a better fuel for high performance apps anyway, runs cooler. You can have a higher compression with it also.

E85 does not mean 85 octane, it's 85% gasoline, 15% ethanol. I believe it yields an octane rating of like 103 or something like that, it's up there.

Did everyone miss the 500 CI part????? I would like to know more about that portion....

BTW. 600 FWHP on E-85 isn't that impressive. Especially with 500 CI. That car should idle like a pussycat..

EDIT: Just saw that the block is billett. Must be the Dart piece...

wrong thats 85% alcohol and 15% gasoline. yes it is 103 octane. yes you can get by with a higher comp ratio. price is a little cheaper than gas, but you lose some mpg. yes you need a retune. you need to make sure your fuel system is compatible with e85. you may need larger injectors.

I have a pcm that's tuned for E85 and nothing else done to the fuel system other then a walbro 255 pump. my car runs like a bat out of hell with E85 but yes I did lose fuel mileage. it was a dollar a gallon cheaper then running 93 in it thou. I broke even maybe alittle ahead when totalled up. The exhaust smells like baking bread when its being run. I personally really like the stuff but others poopoo the idea. One thing beeing said thou its ethonal not methonal.

my car is tuned for e85. In my area it is 70cent/gallon cheaper than premium, and it is 105 octane. You lose some MPG, but i think it is still worth it.

good to hear that you didn't need bigger injectors. i made sure that it was e85 friendly when i bought parts and built the 408. now i just have to get the car on the road. if e85 shows up here in the north ft worth area alls i would need is a tune from someone who knows what they're doing.
who cares what others think, at least some of the money you spend on e85 goes into an americans pocket and a little less into some prince's. little less pollution too

you'll notice a nice bit of torque diffence with E85 as compared too regular premuim gas.

I've had no issues with the fuel system that was E85 related in the 5 months that I ran it. and used alot of e85 driving 130 miles a day everyday. the only issue I had was the fuel pump power wire was soddered together and it broke with the fuel slosh. fixed it with a blade connector and heat shrinked it put it back in and away I went.

I've heard of a few cars running fine with no problems. Theres probably some hillbilly out there who tried running E85 in his 79 pickup.

not a queation of what we are doing wrong but rather what are they doing wrong
500cubic inches with standard ulp ought to be making 670-700bhp at that!
besides id rather less cancer than wasting time with a more toxic promoting fuel
maybe if the governments promoted superior methods of poisoning our
enviroment then surely they ought to consider fuel like elf/bfk-07/93mon.
no benzene,no aromatic poisons,no sulphur or benzene
carbon monoxide emmisions nearly halved
the governments have alot of explaining to do,after all how much emmisions does it take for all them crop machinery to grow, havest, manufactor + transport the stuff in order to make it to the bowser?
it would have been far easier to make quality fuel like the bfk-07
and promote this to our bowsers instead.

The only issue I see is E85 is only feasible if regular gasoline is $2.80/gallon or more.

But makes really nice higher octane race gas

Where are you that regular gas is cheaper than 2.80 a gallon? Cause here in Indy its 2.99 a gal for regular, 3.19 for 93 octane. And to OZ304 what are you talking about? E-85 burns MUCH cleaner than gasoline ever will. As well as to run E-85 in an F-bod I'm pretty sure you will max out the stock injectors duty cycle so you pretty much do need larger injectors, there's is a fellow that did a big write up on how to convert to E-85.
