cutout= loss of low end torque
Can anyone explain why this is ? i always kinda knew that ,but it realy hit me tonight, i closed the cut-out ,and ended up getting a good 3 second chirp into second gear at 50 mph in an all stock A4, were as with the cut-out open it doesnt quite chirp for me

the lack of back pressure at lower rpms usual will cause a drop in torque, nothing to worry about tho in the area of 5rwtq i remember hearing...the difference is generally made up in the higher rpms when the increased horsepower, also caused by the lack of backpressure, comes into play.

Your peak torque actually increases with the loss of "back pressure" with the cutout open. The peak simply moves up higher in the rev range, thus the lethargic feel at low end. Cut out open = more power, faster car overall. yet sluggish feel off the line. You've got to keep the revs up to take advantage of the open cutout.

I gained .2 on my ET with my cutout open. Corsa flows so well, an open cutout becomes more of a flow disruption I definitely feel a significant loss of low end torque and throttle response with it open but the increased noise of LT's into a cutout is worth it. I raced an SRT10 pickup tonight and he told me my car sounded badass. Yea, it may not have a much of a tone quality to it, but it sounds mean as hell.

My 570 RWHP 01 SS gained 1 rwhp and lost 4 rwtq, with a 3" cut out over the close Hooker cat back. I sounded like a POS farm truck also with the cut out.
It was also a QTP and fell appart within a few months of weekend/pleasure driving only.
