Default DMH or QTP???

Im gonna be buying an electric flap for my c/o and I dont know which one to go with DMH or QTP? Anyone have any opinions? Ive searched a little and havent found what I've wanted. How hard is the install as well, anyone have a easy write-up?

Easy to install. I would personally go with DMH. My QTP cut-out was ALWAYS breaking bolts that hold the butterfly in. After the 4th time I took it off. My friend's motor kept going. My roommate's QTP broke the bolts once then the motor went. You get the idea...

from what Ive read the dmh is better 4 year replacement warranty, ive been thinkin about it and once I end up getting some headers I will by 2 3" DMH.

not even a question- the DMH is way better, plus you get a 4 year warranty.

My DMH takes about 1/2 the time to open as the QTP unit I tried, not sure if this affects your purchase or not.

Yeah Im strongly considering both, I just want to hear everyone's opinions before I do buy one. Now does DMH pay for shipping to replace the problem or do you have to? Do you have to take out all the wiring everytime you have to replace it?

if its like my mccords, no, there is a little quik-connect thing on mine that allows it to be disconnected from the harness.

and as far as shipping it back, i dont know, but it shouldnt be that much anyway, defiantley cheaoer than buying a new one.

i know this wasnt a choice but i am real happy with my mccord. i got mine from a sponser and the operation and install was real easy. just another option. i have heard good things about dmh, but qtp seems to get some bad press. i dont know why but peeps post with issues from them all the damn time.

I have the QTP. Been working flawlessly for years. Dont know why you guys go apes **** over other brands warranty. You do realize you are paying for it. Like $40-50 more. I also have never seen any other brand on the right side of the screen(sponsor). What does that tell ya

My QTP fell apart a couple weeks ago - literally. I have to look into sending it back in for repair.......OR anyone know if the switch/wiring from the QTP will work with the DMH???

I've had the DMH for about 7 mos now and love it. I use it often too, I try to be nice as I leave early in the mornings out of my neighborhood and keep things quiet so I use it quite often and haven't had any problems at all. Plus, the 4 yr warranty is sweet. I found mine off ebay, brand new, and picked it up for $130 so that might be worth a shot to check there for either brand you go with. Hope that helps.
