drill thermostat???

drill thermostat??? Someone told me one time that you could improve cooling by drilling a hole in the thermostat (perhaps 1/8") to alow a little more water to get past.
Does this sound like a good idea to anyone?
I personally am not having any cooling issues as I have a 160degree thermostat, fans set to always be on (turn on a 165), and an oil cooler (keeps oil down below 180).

Re: drill thermostat??? It's pretty unnecessary, if you have a properly
set up cooling system. Where I've found it helped,
was in one of my old projects where the thermostat
was pretty remote from the intra-block circulation
path (this was an old odd-fire Buick V-6 hop-up)
and the water there was stagnant, so it would take
forever to open up and then do this temperature
yo-yo deal and so on. Drilling a little hole made
it so at least enough coolant went by, so the
'stat knew what the hell was up and kept a more
level head.
