after swearing off a stall originally, i finally found a good deal on a used yank 3500 so i grabbed it. dont have it in yet, but with all these guys said about them, they started to sound pretty good. real reson i bought mine though is that you really need one if you plan on getting a cam, which is still a few months away for me

basically i say stall

If I had an auto and was only allowed one mod to it for as long as I had the car it would be a stall converter . It should be the first mod , that with a shift kit , trans cooler , tune since these are electronically controlled trans .

Go with a Yank ss3600 or a pt4000 .

Pick your stall to your gears you plan to run .

Me with 4.11's ... Id go pt4400 . It would hit hard as fu$% off the line . These new age converters lock up , no reson not to go big .

These guys are right though, a higher stalled converter is your friend! I ran a TCI 3500 in my previous car, and loved it! 3500 IMHO, is the MIN!

I say get a ss3600 from YANK. My car was fast without it but feels a hell of a lot faster with it. The best mod i've done so far.

I don't understand why people are saying "stall." By the time they get in installed and buy a tranny cooler, you're going to be in the hole over $1,000, especially if you decide to add a shift kit and a tune, which is ideal. Even if you buy some second rate used converter, you should ship it away to get refurbished, then you need the tranny cooler, shift kit and install cost tacked on to that, too. Pretty funny title to this thread because anything that requires bolting on is for sure not going to be bolted to the seat of my pants.

With that said.. Like other mentioned a Converter something in the 3200 range up to 4000 depending on how saucy you feel is the best bet. I took .6 of my 1/4 mile with 2.73's just putting a stall with sticky tires on my car.

I thought adding a shift kit wasnt ideal since it hurts stock transmission life? Might be wrong I dunno.

As for $500 no way your going to do a stall for that. Since headers and intake are done, Id say save it.

If you are getting more $$ after christmas then I would do heads and cam and maybe stall.

Its cheaper to do it all at once, rather than putting a part on here and there.

A stall doesent cost you anything to install if you do it yourself. And trans coolers are cheap..You dont always need a tune either, i know i didnt need one with my stall..besides nitrous..nothing for the money will drop his ET as much as a stall.

Seriously though... a nice torque converter will make you feel like you actually did something to your car.
