Another header bolt rounded
Another header bolt rounded Well i am trying to put my headers back on & The 12 point has rounded off the bolt,i dont no if a 6 point will work or not ,if it doesnt anyone got any suggestions,btw, its the last bolt in the back on the driverside, i also thought about leaving it alone & see if theres any sign of the headers leaking ,if it is leaking i guess i can drop down in socket size & try to beat it on .the bolt is not stripped & its about a 1/8 inch away from being tight on the header.any suggestions ?
Get one of these and take the bolt out and buy a new one to put in. And by the way always use 6 point sockets they don't round off bolts

well i do have the extractors but the ones i have are a little smaller than the header bolt itself ,i will try to put a hammer on it & knock it on ,if the bolt doesnt leak i am in the clear,if it does ,i will try the extractors,i have also used a smaller socket to do the same thing ,ya the 6 points are the best,i dont know why the even sell the 12 ,i have had nothing but bad luck with 12 point sockets ,all of the rounded off bolts i have dealt with come from a 12 point ,they outta outlaw them

Just out of curiosity, what bolts are you running? What bolts would anyone recommend for a good price to use? I'm gonna be doing a head swap, and want to be as much prepared as i possibly can for any issues.
6-point sockets I will have to go find somewhere. The local sears only carries the 12-point metric sockets, ugh!

Yeah, I think it depends on location. in NJ I don't think that many people do their own work anymore, so they don't carry a wide selection of hand tools like this.
Found a great site online though I can get SK tools for the same price if not cheaper!
