Default XS Header Install

My XS stainless headers are on the way. Was trying to figure out what parts I still need for install. This is what I came up with.

4ea 3" stainless steel band clamps

2ea o2 sensor extensions ( any ideas where i can get these )

maybe new set of gaskets

comments welcome

Band Clamps are good, 2- 12" o2 Extentions, try http://www.ls1speed.com thats where I always get mine. Reuse your stock GM or buy new stock GM header gaskets. Reuse your bolts.

Most people order New O2 Sensors when doing headers. Order the O2's for the Corvettes. They have longer O2 wires. Someone chime in to give the correct part number please.

I got my extensions from WS6store. They were the cheapest place I could find them. As stated above, reuse your stock gaskets and bolts. No need to drop that much money on new O2s, use your old ones. Take your time with everything, especially putting the bolts back in. I had one of mine cross threaded by a friend, no big deal really though. Popped a couple of washers on the bolt to take up the space and tightened it down a little and no leaks so far. It would be nice if you had a couple of people helping that have done it before as well. Good luck with everything.

Ditto. I'm going to get it fixed properly when the spring rolls around.

going to take it it my buddy with a custom exhaust shop and have him heat it and bend it. it's all you can really do aside from having a custom y fabbed up. sure the heater hose thing helps... but thats the ghetto way of fixing it...

id def change the plugs while in there to some NGK TR55's and also wires if you have the extra cash... but def go to a chevy dealership and get some stock gaskets... other than that you got it all, band clamps, extensions. and if you dont already have them... go get yourself a wratchet wrench, preferably craftsman since they replace them free if you break it.

or you could put in poly motor mounts, which would be the right thing to do

yeah i would also change the plugs while your at it, and dont forget the gaskets. You can reuse the old bolts but clean them if you do. Then get some antiseize for the header bolts. also get some pb blaster and spray down the bolts the night before you do it.

and for band clamps you might want to try these, i think they seal a lil better than the flat ones.

lol yea i was gonna say the most important thing to have for an xs install is a competent welder to fix the drivers side header angle

yeah that may be because you have a 98. from what i've seen most of the 98's dont have probs with the install. perhaps in later years something on the underside of the car was changed just a few milimeters which makes it rub.

I have solid motor mounts and I had to have a shop heat it up and bend it down to clear the floorboard.

I have a 98. My drivers side collector was about 2-3 mils off the floor. I kinda doubt it's year dependant.

FWIW, my friend and I had to drill out 4 of the bolt holes to get the flanges to line up to the head as well.
