Very true, I think with mobile 1 three+ dollars of that five+ dollars goes towards there marketing. Every time you turn around you see a commerical, banner, ad in mag ect.

There is nothing wrong with M1. Its just not the top dog anymore there are better choices at very competiave price some are even cheaper than m1. I personally run Penzoil platinum 10w30 I was running german castrol but it became hard to come by.

I used to run the 0-40 M1 but they dont sell it around here anymore...what part of the country do you live in and where do you buy it?..been using the high mileage 10-40 M1 since I can't find the 0-40 anymore..

I do not think he has a problem with the brand or weight of oil he is using with oil consumption that high there is something that is not right with the engine. I think he will have high oil use no matter what is in the engine. Are you sure it is 2 quarts in 1500 miles?

Damn, I never knew that mobil 1 didn't do as well as most people say it does. My car has 116k miles on it now, and burns about 1/2 quart every 3k miles. After all the research i think i'll switch to either RP or pennzoil platinum. I'm pretty sure that no one will have Amsoil here in college station.

He's not trying to run 87 or 89 octane in it, is he? My Camaro had the same oil consumption issues with Synthetic but thats because I was trying to run mid grade. As soon as I put 93 in it it ceased my consumption problem.

FWIW I used to run Royal Purple but I switched to Mobile One extended performance because the car sits quite a bit. If I ever rework the motor or swap it out I will probably go back to Royal Purple.
