K&N Fipk VS Aftermarket lid
My car had a k&n fipk kit on it when I bought it, Am I losing anything to an aftermarket lid sytem? The fipk is always sucking hot underhood air, would it be better to put a lid on with a cold air kit? Or would it be a waste of money to switch over to a lid for a small gain?

It seems like everyone goes with a lid, my car came with one so my decision was already made for me, but I'd like to see a back to back dyno, switching between a lid and FIPK, on a mildly modded car with a stock tune, and see what the difference is. The difference probably isn't anything substantial. Don't forget, when your car is moving, air is circulating through that engine bay so it isn't nearly as hot in there as it is when you're just sitting at idle.

If the car already has it dont bother switchin to a lid because you will feel no difference at all between the two. That would just be a waste of your time installing it and trying to sell it. Some people on this board love the lids and hate the CAI and vice versa. Also how can you tell that it is sucking hot air all the time? And to answer your second question no you are not losing anything to a lid as far as the seat of the pants dyno is concerned. Just my .02 though

buy a cowl induction hood. if your worried about body lines then get the VFN Fiberglass Sunoco style cowl hood. it is rounded so it flows well. Go to http://www.fquick.com/brian2006 for pics. lol, Brian2006 is a member here so I am giving him some free advertising!
